Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to find our shops, read our menus and order our bread, whether or not you use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, or need larger text.

What we aim for

We work to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA (opens in a new tab). That is a target we hold ourselves to rather than a certificate we claim. Parts of this site meet it fully and some things are still being improved, listed below.

Accessibility checks run automatically every time we change the site, and again nightly against the live site, so problems surface quickly. Automated checking only finds a portion of real barriers, so we test by keyboard and with a screen reader as well.

Known limitations

We would rather tell you about this than let you discover it. The maps on our locations page are embedded from Google. We cannot change what is inside them, and they do not show a visible outline when reached by keyboard. Every address and phone number on that page is written out as text, so you never need to use the map to get the information.

Tell us if something does not work

If you hit a barrier anywhere on this site, please tell us. It is the fastest way for us to fix it, and we would rather hear about it than not.

You can also call any of our shops, and they will pass it on. Every shop takes orders by phone too, so nothing here has to stop you ordering.
